From August to November 2016, the modern art museum MASP, a landmark of São Paulo in Avenida Paulista, organized an exhibition of Portinari, with a large collection of unpublished work of the prominent neo-realist painter.
Candido Portinari is one of the most important and controversial Brazilian artists of the 20th century. Much of his work highlights popular characters like workers in various activities and people in transit, such as immigrants and refugees as well as children playing and social events in the countryside.
